NOTICE N^O CS 05/2024

PUBLIC NOTICE CALLING FOR INSPECTION OF THE GENERAL VALUATION ROLL AND LODGING OF OBJECTIONS IN TERMS OF SECTION 49 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT: MUNICIPAL PROPERTY RATES ACT NO 6 OF 2004,

Notice is hereby given in terms of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act No 6 of 2004, Section 49(1)(a)(i)(ii) and section 78(2) of the Act and as amended by MPRA Act 29/2014. The General Valuation Roll for the 2024 to 2029 financial years will be open for public inspection and objections at the following Municipal Offices: 37 Murchison Street, Newcastle, the Madadeni, Osizweni, Stafford, Ngagane and Charlestown offices and all municipal libraries within Newcastle Municipality jurisdiction from 19 February 2024 to 17 May 2024. In addition, the General Valuation Roll is available at the municipal website:        www.newcastle.gov.za

Please note that this invitation is also made in terms of section 50(1)(c) of the MPRA Act, which stipulates that “any owner of property or other person who so desires to lodge an objection with the Municipal Manager in respect of any matter reflected in, or omitted from the General Valuation Roll must lodge the objection within the stipulated  period of this notice. Attention is specifically drawn to the fact that in terms of section 50(2) of the Act an objection must be in relation to a specific individual property and not against the General Valuation Roll.

The form for the lodging of objections is obtainable at:  Municipal Offices, 4^th Floor, 37 Murchison Street, Newcastle, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, or on the aforesaid website. Any person who so desire to lodge an objection must complete the above-mentioned form and be returned/submitted within a specified period mentioned above and be submitted to the following address:
