Mandela Day :

Every year on 18 July South Africans together with the international community honour our former president and international icon Nelson Mandela in the celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day. This day has since its launch in 2009 inspired individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good.

It initially started with people being asked to give 67 minutes of their time and later moved away from an ad hoc and individualised initiative towards addressing issues affecting our society. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Nelson Mandela Day and to commemorate this milestone the Nelson Mandela Foundation has launched a new approach and strategy titled Mandela Day: The Next Chapter.

The strategy outlines a new approach over the next ten years that will significantly change the manner in which the International Nelson Mandela Day impacts people’s lives. This means that the focus will be on harnessing research, analysis and dialogue to build sustainable impact for those that need help the most.

It identifies five key focus areas for global partnerships to focus on to have strategic impact. These areas are education and literacy; food and nutrition; shelter; sanitation and active citizenship, and they are in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Image attachment

Public Warning please note:

Both Newcastle West and East may have water supply interuptions today due to a technical challenge that we had Yesterday leading to very low reservoir levels at Braakfontein and Hill drop. We are currently struggling to raise these levels although we are pumping to the extremes. 0860144144.

The Newcastle Municipality Is today holding a two fold event at the old Civic centre parking lot

1) The introduction of 10 traffic wardens employed on the purposes of bylaw Enforcement.

2) The launch of the long anticipated parking management system . The primary purpose of this system is to restore order within the Newcastle CBD and surrounding areas.

74 youth from Newcastle have been trained and ready to work.Image attachmentImage attachment

This thing of paying for parking is another scheme of robbing our money just for parking for 15 minutes u have to pay R4 and they say u park at your own risk that's nonsense

I am happy for the innovative system that ensures hiring of parking attendants. Congratulations Newcastle Municipality.

Congrats to all of Them

Congratulations guys

Congratulations Leadership

Restore order... It's more to help with for safty that's concern. I think. Glad more in service... Good luck and hope CBD a beta place.

Congrats guyz & good luck

Congratulations are in order. 👌👌👌👌👌

Sorry to be out of point. Koda are these the very wardens where requirements were a code A driving license. So it's safe to say all 10 wardens can ride a Nike and are in possession of a valid motorcycle riding license?

If y'all buy the Advertiser every week y'all would've seen these posts, It was advertised in Feb. Anyways this will create conflict between the Old and new Marshals which might cause our Vehicles to be involved. EY bakwethu yes it's a Good deal they have with the municipality but the Old Marshals were Inconsidered.

Job well done

Also teach them to help us park properly(Signalers) unless they're only standing there just to come and tell you how much we need to pay...previouse parking marshals used to help us park and get parking.

Nonsense.. Just another scheme to take money from the poor citizens in the name of trying to create employment for the youth.

Congratulationsto all of them

when and where did the 74 come from? thez just a lot of neglectance towards the growing unemployment rate in this town and yet ur offices are full of employees from other towns and cities. what about ur own towns graduates sitting at home unemployed. I really would like to know how yal expect us to congratulate ur apolling ways of service delivery. I think it is fair to tell u that u have failed epicly. u are just failures
