Sanibonani Osizweni!

The Newcastle Municipality’s EPWP workers, Department of Environment, Forestry, Fisheries in conjunction with the Green Good Deeds Beneficiaries continues to make commendable strides of making sure every corner of Newcastle is kept clean.

With black refuse bags in hand, the team cleared four illegal dumpings sites in Osizweni ward 17 today.

The municipality encourages the residents of Newcastle to take ownership of their environment, and contribute their time towards improving the cleanliness of their communities.

A favour for a friend?

You cut down a healthy tree in Boundary Street, Richview, one that was not an obstruction but that beautified the neighbourhood, then 10 days later, the branches and leaves of the tree are still on the pavement, proving to be a hazard to motorist, pedestrians, an eyesore and a possible refuge for criminals.

Thumbs up👍👍

Siyabonga kakhulu kumkhandlu, uhleli ethembeni nomphakathi Wase Blaaubosch, Jakalas, Johnston, Mndozo, Dicks nase Manzana. Phambili nge spirit of selflessness, service to the people!!!!!

Clearing of stormwater drains at the Newcastle bus and taxi rank.
Maintenance of stormwater drains is to ensure that stormwater reticulation is not hampered with.
This will allow for free flow of stormwater and prevent flooding in the area. It is important that the stormwater network is cleared regularly.

The Newcastle Municipality's Technical Services team is working tirelessly to get Newcastle ready to brave any storm.

Gradually things will be sorted out soon!! Keep up the good work.....

Street lights

Uphi u mayor makuklinwa ama drain noma ucosha amaphepha kuphela yena

Fix the pot holes and street lights!

Uma lingavala lemikhukhu esigcwele e town ngase rank ngathi kuse Nquthu manje noma e Gimston

Good work, please do it to the entire stormwater system as a matter of urgency as there are legal implications for the Municipality in terms of l8ss of life and damage to property. Akso note, this must not be used as an opportunity for false RET.

Good work but wrong terminology 😷😷

Trying to get municipality to clear storm water drain in ayliff street last 4 months to no avail

16 Days of Activism against GBV

The annual 16 Days of activism is a call to eliminate the negative impact of GBV against women and children in our communities. The Newcastle Municipality in partnership with Lifeline, DSD, ESST, Chai Talk, Phila Amajuba and various government stakeholders amplified the call for women Empowerment by engaging in an awareness compaign in a form of a march against GBV under the theme, “Economic Justice for a Non-Violent and Non-Sexiest South Africa,” today on the 30th of November.

The second session of the program was an engagement with commissions , where issues ranging from the root causes of GBV to the stigma associated with male and female abuse were hammered out.

Newcastle Municipality’s Deputy’ Mayor , Reuben Molelekoa addressed the prestigious gathering, “The global annual 16 days of Activism against the abuse of women and children is an act that should be carried out 365 days a year. GBV is a pandemic itself therefore our attitudes ought to change in order to put a stop to all the social ills in our society. ” remarked Newcastle Municipality’s Deputy mayor. Molelekoa also emphasized on the significant role male figures play in instilling good values on young boys.

The day ended with a candle light ceremony in remembrance of those we have lost due to GBV and with the crisis center donating toiletries to victims of abuse
