BUSINESS:

  • The Municipality will write off 50% of your outstanding debt owing before 30 June 2022. The consumer must arrange to pay for the other 50%. Every month the consumer will pay the Municipality their current bill plus a portion of their arrear amount.

 

Example:

Amount owed at 30 June 2022            R100 000

Municipality write off (50%)                 R50 000

Balance owed by consumer (50%)      R50 000

 

Payment arrangement                         R100 per month

Monthly bill                                         R500

Amount paid to the municipality         R600

 

INDIVIDUAL HOUSEHOLDS:

  • The Municipality will write off 50% of the amount outstanding at 30 June 2022. The consumer must arrange to pay for the other 50%. Every month the consumer will pay the Municipality their current bill plus a portion of their arrear amount.

    The Municipality will write off 75% of your outstanding debt owing before 30 June 2022 (if the consumer signs a debit order). The consumer must arrange to pay for the other 25%. Every month the consumer will pay the Municipality their current bill plus a portion of their arrear amount.

 

Example:

Amount owed at 30 June 2022            R100 000

Municipality write off (50%)                 R50 000

Balance owed by consumer (50%)      R50 000

 

Payment arrangement                         R100 per month

Monthly bill                                               R500

Amount paid to the municipality         R600

 

  • You pay 25% of your outstanding debt at 30 June 2022 and the Municipality will write off 75%, provided you sign a debit order going forward

Amount owed at 30 June 2022            R100 000

Municipality write off (75%)                 R75 000

Balance owed by consumer (25%)      R25 000

 

Payment arrangement                         R100 per month

Monthly bill                                         R500

Amount paid to the municipality         R600

 

DECEASED HOUSEHOLDS:

If the account holder is deceased, and the people living in the household are still consuming municipal services, and there is someone living in the same household who is willing to take over the account, the Municipality will write off the total amount/current bill, and the new account holder will start on a clean slate.
